Text 21 Oct

UMM let’s forget about Ebola for a second. How about let’s focus on higher frequency, more contagious illnesses that we are exposed on the regs. Ones that we find out about after being exposed to days to weeks later.

TB
Shingles
MRSA
VRE
Cdiff
Norovirus
Influenza

Staph Meningococcal

The list goes on and on..

Its not just about providing the protective equipment when the issues become apparent. Its about shining a light on primary prevention in health care. Ie. Prevention, education, drawing on factors that we’ve experienced in the past and can learn from, screening processes in emergency or the community. How about even enough staff to help make sure these processes are followed through!?

Being front line means coming into work and on any given day risking infection, physical abuse and exposure. That will never change but maybe the screening processes in place could reflect the necessity of proper and early management of health care issues.
